Duplex 2507(5A) is a widely used variant of stainless steel (both Ferritic and Austenitic). Duplex 2507(5A) exhibits excellent corrosion resistance. It resists intergranular and crevice corrosion. Penetrant Testing(PT) By applying penetrant, the redundant parts is removed with a detergent, and if necessary, applying imaging agent to obtain an indication of some defects opening on the surface in the part. Penetration testing is based on the liquid to the solid's wetting ability and capillary phenomenon in the physics, first let contain dyes and high penetration of the liquid penetrant, coated to the surface of the tested workpiece, due to the liquid's wetting action and capillary action, the penetrant infiltration into the surface opening defects. After applying the penetrant, it is permitted to sit on the surface for a specified period of time (the "penetrant dwell time"), then the part is carefully cleaned to remove excess penetrant from the surface. A light coating of developer is then be applied to the surface and given time ("developer dwell time") to allow the penetrant from any voids or fissures to seep up into the developer, creating a visible indication.

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the analysis of a metallic alloy to establish composition by reading the percentage quantities of its constituent elements. The object of this nondestructive testing method is to identify metal alloys in place using a portable X-Ray fluorescent analyzer that determines the elemental composition of the material. At Sedelon, we have our own hand held Positive Material Analyser for confirming all stainless steel grades, Inconels, Hastelloys, Duplexes Steels and much more, without having to transport, alter, or damage the material. For Duplex Stainless Steel and Stainless Steel valves, PMI is conducted by using PMI XRF portable test gun, pointed at the external surface of completed valves. Parts of valves to be PMI tested are: a)Body, b)Bonnet, c)Stem, (for all valves having externally-exposed stems) By using PMI test, we can confirm all material received against orders raised by clients, and all tests can be witnessed by clients or their nominated inspectors.

Forged steel flange globe valves are the valves whose disc move along the valve seat center-line when closing and opening. Regarding these kinds of valves , the most obvious advantage is: In the process of opening and closing, due to the friction between the disc in the valve sealing surface is smaller than gate valves, so it is much durable and wear-resisting. The rising height in the process of opening is generally only a quarter of the seat channel’s diameter, so the shape and size are much smaller than gate valves. Typically there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and disc, thus it is easy to maintenance.

The Difference Between Gate Valves and Globe Valves @Sedelon® In the process of regulating the flow,the valves play an important role. With the rapid development of the valve's usage, the types of valves are becoming diverse. Gate valves and globe valves are two typical valve types among them. So what are the differences between these two kinds of valves? Regarding the gate valve, when the valve opens and closes, the stem of the valve will move along with the wedge. This type is rising stem gate valve. Through the slot on the valve body and the nut on the top of the valve, the rotation movement is turned into the straight-forward movement with the help of the acme thread on the stem, thus making the operating torque to become operating thrust. Glove Valves: The globe valves can be used to cut and throttle the fluid. As a kind of typical cut-off valve, the sealing performance can be accomplished by exerting torque on the valve stem which will make pressure on the disc in axial direction, then the sealing face and the seat face will touch tightly to avoid the leakage of the fluid through the sealing parts. Advantages and disadvantages Regarding the gate valves, flow resistance is smaller, because channel in the eternal body is direct and straight. Different from the globe valves, the movement of the wedge in the gate valve is axis to the flow of fluid when opening and closing. But the disadvantage is that the sealing face will easily have erosion and abrasion so the maintenance will be difficult. The size is big, thus the opening of it needs more space and time. Globe valves: the structure is simpler, the maintenance and repair are easier. The sealing face is not easily eroded. The sealing performance is good! The maintenance procedures: The maintenance of the gate valve is not suitable to operate in the pipeline site. Under this circumstance, the valves and pipes which are welded together is prior to use globe valves. The operators don't need to dismount the globe valves from the pipes. The characteristics of the gate valves and globe valves are quite clear according to the analysis of the advantages, structures and maintenance procedures. With the development of the economy and industry, choosing the suitable type of valves are very significant.
