Butterfly Valve

A Butterfly valve serves the purpose of isolating or regulating fluid flow. Sedelon® offers DIN-compliant Butterfly valves in accordance with the DIN design standard.
The body of a Butterfly valve can be constructed from various metals, including Forged Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy, Bronze, Cast Steel, and Carbon Steel, among others. Specifically, Sedelon® specializes in producing API 609 Forged Steel Butterfly valves and API 603 Stainless Steel Butterfly valves. Alternatively, the body can be made of non-metal materials, such as Ceramic, which is resistant to erosion, wear, cavitation, and oxidation. Additionally, there are specialized materials like Special Alloy, Special Steel, and Hastelloy used in Butterfly valves. For highly corrosive media, Duplex Stainless Steel or Super Stainless Steel Butterfly valves are often chosen due to their ability to perform well in corrosive environments.
According to the connection type, Butterfly valves can be divided into 4 types.
Wafer-Type Butterfly Valves
Featuring a snug-fitting seal, O-ring, and a flat valve face, Wafer-Type Butterfly valves offer effective flow control while ensuring one-way flow.
Flanged Butterfly Valves
These Flanged Butterfly valves come with flanges on both ends, connecting to the pipeline flanges via bolts.
Lug-Type Butterfly Valves
Lug-Type Butterfly valves possess the ability to reduce the pressure rating.
Welded Butterfly Valves
Commonly used Welded Butterfly valves is Butt Weld, suitable for both on-off and regulating services.
The operation of Butterfly valves is straightforward, typically involving a hand wheel (Hand Wheel Butterfly Valves). For valves requiring significant starting force, Gear Operated Butterfly valves are an effort-saving option. Generally, larger Butterfly valves are operated via gears. Additionally, some (Sedelon®) Butterfly valves can be equipped with pneumatic actuators (Pneumatic Actuator Butterfly Valves) or electric motors (Electric Motor Butterfly Valves).
Different kinds of Butterfly valves are adopted for different pressures and different usage.
A Resilient Seated Concentric Butterfly Valve leverages the flexibility and durability of rubber, boasting the lowest pressure rating among its peers.
The High Performance Butterfly Valve is tailored for systems that operate under slightly elevated pressures. For high-pressure applications, Sedelon’s High Pressure Butterfly Valves stand out as excellent options. Addressing pressure concerns, a By-pass Butterfly Valve functions as a pressure relief system, aiming to minimize engine wear. Typically, By-pass Butterfly Valves feature a flanged design. Sedelon offers a variety of valves suited for different operating conditions, particularly varying temperatures. This includes High Temperature Butterfly Valves, Low Temperature/Cryogenic Butterfly Valves, and Jacket Butterfly Valves, each designed for specific temperature ranges. Jacket Butterfly Valves assist in maintaining the temperature of the line fluid, preventing heat loss. For extremely high temperatures, High Nickel Alloy Butterfly Valves are also an option to consider.
The Triple Offset Butterfly Valve utilizes a robust metal seat capable of enduring high pressure and is frequently utilized in the oil and gas industry, chemical plants, and shipbuilding sectors.
Double-Offset Butterfly Valves feature a bidirectional double-eccentric design, with seats and discs composed of differing materials. In contrast, Concentric Butterfly Valves employ a resilient rubber seat paired with a metal disc. Eccentric Butterfly Valves address the issue of significant extrusion between the butterfly plate and seats.
In today's world, environmental protection is a top priority, and Sedelon takes this into account. Low Emission Butterfly Valves and Low Leakage Butterfly Valves effectively mitigate medium leakage and emissions, benefiting the environment.
Sedelon manufactures Fugitive Emission Butterfly Valves equipped with the ISO 15848-1:2006 Fugitive Emission Test Certificate, contributing to environmental protection efforts.
